Sweetgrass
The Sweetgrass Turkey originated as a Mutaion in a flock of Broad Breast Bronze birds in Sweetgrass Montana in the mid 1990s. Through serious breeding programs by some of the Top Breeders in the United States this color mutation was maintained while breeding them back to the Heritage Turkey body style which will breed naturaly and have a high quality immune system as required in Heritage Turkeys.

Genotypes: (b1b1cgcg) Black Winged Bronze based with Oregon Gray (aka Palm genes)
The Sweetgrass has a color pattern similar to the Royal Palm with chestnut coloring. The tail is a rich chestnut reddish brown with a band of black tipped with a cream colored edge. Tail Coverts are chestnut with a cream colored band. The Breast can be from off white to cream color with the exposed portion of each feather ending with a band of Chestnut reddish brown.
Mature toms weigh approximately 30 pounds.
